Re - The Energy Problem

Somebody sent in these pics: a solar cell and a solar panel. Can they be made in any of the developing countries where there is plenty of sunshine, cheap labour and lots of raw materials so the entire world can have energy?

You can do well by posting your comments on my blog:

Thanks.

This Energy Problem

The world is full of happenings, whether social, industrial, commercial, spiritual. That is why there is a sense of morbidity when nothing happens. Never mind our upward-mobile Nigerian artiste Tuface and his cliche "Nothing dey happen..." It is because something is happening in his life that he has had the voice to say publicly, as if mocking the rest of us that nothing is happening!

Happenings require energy to take place, and energy is the biggest problem of this world. It is the main cause of the Middle East instability for more that half a century now, although many would still attribute the conflict there to ethno-religious backgrounds. That was then. Now it is energy: the abundant oil in the middle east attracts the attention of the entire civilized world as each country looks for means of running their industries, transport and infrastructure. Interestingly Israel has no oil industry to boast of but that nation runs as efficiently as any other industrialized nation, perhaps better as it has to cope with high level security alert 24/7 in addition to daily conveniences.

Now that leads us to new world and new possibilities. No oil, yet moving ahead adequately? Do you know that this is indeed a peep into the new world order? Solar is widely used as a source of energy in Israel as well as other industrialized nations like Japan, Germany and US. Funny part is that these countries don't have as much sunshine as they would have loved to have all year round, yet they are doing good with solar. Isn't that telling us something? God has provided all the source of energy we need in this world in abundance: SOLAR. All we need to do is tap. Somebody tell me how I can tap solar energy (so free) cheaply, please.

Light Energy

Hello there! Welcome to my favorite blog: SolaRich. There is something that gets me all steamed up any time there is mention of solar energy. Solar energy, simply put, is the energy derived from the sun. It is free and it is for all who would care to tap from it. It is like making a choice between airing your clothes in the open to dry or machine drying the same. You get your clothes dry anyway, but at what cost? Solar is free while the machine might have to use energy generated from oil, gas, hydro or some other source. Mind you, your drying machine could have been powered by solar energy too.... But why not simply air your laundry out in the open, like a short cut, uh?

Let me tell you why I'm crazy about solar energy: It's available for all, whether you live in the developing (somebody says it should be 'low-resource') country or industrialized country. Incidentally, much of the industrialized world which are also about the richest nations are not as blessed with abundant sunshine as the developing ones. Really, the solar resources are in overwhelming supply, so I wonder why we should be in any form of lack. Why do we waste resources and yet call ourselves low resource country.

Does anyone have the same passion for solar energy? What can we all do to bring this valuable resource to service in our land where we lack nothing really except initiative? Let's rub minds together please and start something great for our nations.
